What happened to Allergy Block?

Our favorite allergen free food shop has disappeared. Their online site www.allergyblock.com.au has gone offline and their physical storefront closed for a move but no signs of where they went. And we need some products. Ughh. Anyone know?

We have a couple of new recipes and other thoughts.
But know that this blog is not dead yet.

Updated Buttermilk

I realized I made a mistake on my Darifree Buttermilk recipe. I had put in 1 t / teaspoon instead of 1 T / Tablespoon on the Vinegar as called for in normal Sour Milk recipes. So I amended it today: http://kellerville.com/2009/02/15/dairy-free-buttermilk/ I just corrected the original entry.

Costco is coming!

We are excited to shop at the new Costco in Australia. It will be the first one built in Australia though it will be a half hour drive from our house. Anyway they are now taking membership applications and the Grand Opening will be in July I think. Hope we can make it. This is one of our favorite stores in the USA. Has saved us a lot of money over the years.

Hot Cross Buns cooling

Jaden and I baked Hot Cross Buns….We used Gluten-Free Flour and more or less followed the recipe at http://www.everydaywithallergies.com/2009/03/hot-cross-buns.html. We substituted 1/4 tsp Nutmeg for the 1 tsp Cinnamon. Best thing is that Jaden likes it.

My neice got married an hour ago. To that we say CONGRATULATIONS..

We were planning on “attending” via Skype to celebrate with them from 9000+ miles away. We wanted to hear my nephew sing and watch all of the beauty and stuff and in general just celebrate with them. We had tested the connection on Tuesday Night (USA)/Wed Morn (Aus) and things looked good. Friday night (USA) a storm blew through and knocked out the Internet connection at the church. Ugggh. No internet = no Skype.

My cousin comes to the rescue with his cell phone. Unfortunately the USA cells are not 3.5G (especially in Berne). I think we were getting less that 50K connection. We missed all of the pre-service music and the first 20 minutes of the service. BUT we did see three 8 minute or so blocks of the wedding and post wedding crowd dismissal from the sanctuary. The first was the ring placement, then a bit of my nephew singing (no audio) and then the pronoucement of man and wife.

While we couldn’t be there, it was still worth staying up the night to see a glimpse. Now it is time to go back to sleep for a little bit. (6am)

Keller Birthday Trip to the Mountains

On Monday we drove 1 hour to the Blue Mountains for a Birthday day-trip. It was my 40th Birthday. We had a lot of fun (”heaps of fun” as they say in Australia) walking around and looking at the scenery. The picture is of the Keller 3 sisters with the geological 3 Sisters feature of the Blue Mountains in the background.

Cool Post Office Service

The US Post Office has a Priority Mail forwarding service for $10 per week (+$10 enrollment fee). They take all of the mail you receive in a week and forward it to your address anywhere in the USA. No forwarding info is sent to anyone that sends you mail.

Pretty cool service. It is called Premium Mail Forwarding. Yes it is still cheaper to have a friend do this for you, but at times the USPS way does make sense. Plus the mail doesn’t accumulate in your home mail box each day waiting for your friend to pick it up leaving the opportunity for someone to steal your mail and your identity. One reason to give them kudos when they are going to raise the rates soon to my dismay.
