Well, I started an upgrade. As you can see from our  blog that it looks a little bit different.  I need to get the image of us (or an updated one) back on the top, but too tired to finish that now.

Looks like my site is broken…No matter which thing I click on I come back to the home page.  Guess it is time to upgrade Wordpress…Been putting it off while doing other things. Perhaps later today or on Monday.

Wow. I used a Bomgar box this week to provide remote support to someone. This box is incredible. It is much more than simple remote control. I could not only see the persons screen but could delve into more technical details of their system. In one instance I was helping someone with a computer problem in Sydney with me in Melbourne. I was more effective and efficient. Got their problem solved in less than 30 minutes which could easily taken an hour without this tool. I have used different tools over the years to see someone’s screen. This by far was the best. If you do tech support you should check it out. http://www.bomgar.com/ (And no I receive no compensation for my opinion or words. It was just too cool to not share.)

Just before a trip I figured out that my new laptop hard drive was failing.  I received the replacement drive less than 12 hours before I was to leave for the airport. Now I have to reinstall everything on the road.  I have all of my documents on another drive to copy back, but it is still a pain. Fortunately I haven’t had it long.  The worst part is that I would rather have this joined to the Windows domain back in the office and I can’t really do that easily away from the office (especially when the VPN client won’t run on the reinstall of Windows.) I likely just need to download and reinstall, I just can’t download easily at the moment.

At least I know now that over the past few weeks my performance annoyances with Windows Vista was not Vista’s fault.  It was a failing drive.

Wow, my cell phone has 3-4 bars now when before it had none! Verizon has put up a cell tower in Berne and must have turned it on yesterday. I would suspect that the coverage will be up and down as they get it tuned in just right, but hey this is phenomally better than it was during my earlier post. Even though I have a Sprint phone, it roams on the Verizon network. I really didn’t care who put up the tower as either would bring coverage to my phone.

I am currently in a Skype call with co-workers in Australia. I am using my new bluetooth headset for myself. I am using a Dell D610 laptop. I needed to install Dell Bluetooth drivers (which tell me it is a Toshiba Bluetooth chip) to get the headset to work, but once it is setup it is working fine. Nice thing is that I can stand and pace while on a Skype call. Also with the lousy cell service where I am at, I can use the headset to roam the house while leaving the cell phone stationary. I don’t get a great distance, best at 10ft or less, but still this is better then I have had in awhile.
